Summer - trees in the shade
One of the first very warm days this year, about a week ago.
The shadow of the trees was a nice shelter and trhe darkness a rest for my eyes.

Hommage to Onorato Carlandi
By way of exercise I copied a detail of a watercolour by Onorato Carlandi (Roma, 1848-1939). There is a beautiful exhibition about his watercolours in Palazzo Braschi (Piazza Navona), Rome. There are two rooms: one with older work made during his stay in England and the other room with work about Rome and the roman countryside. It runs until the 3th of july. If you are in Rome and you like watercolours I think this is a must-see! I went twice and bought the catalog.

Very relaxing!

Trees
two quick studies in a Daler Rowney sketchbook (24 x 19 cm).
Dip-pen and black ink (Winsor&Newton).
Rediscovered how much nicer it is to draw with a steel dip-pen
and how much more interesting lines you can do with them.
A little bit more complicated to carry the ink around but still worth doing.
Back to basics!!

Filacciano, le Piazzette
Open-air watercolour sketch with just a little bit of white gouache. I did this some time ago using my sketchbox-easel for the very first time. (1 hour more or less)
